The word "dedication" means "to consecrate" or the act of setting apart people or things to serve God. In the Old Testament, we see how Hannah prayed for a child and promised God that the child, Samuel, would be given to the Lord all the days of his life (1 Samuel 1:11, 28). In the New Testament, we see how Mary and Joseph took Jesus to the temple to "present" Him to the Lord (Luke 2:22).

A Child Dedication service is an opportunity for parents to publicly declare their intent to raise their child in a way that honors God.  In many ways a "child dedication" service is truly a "parent dedication" service, as parents publicly declare to raise their child in the faith until the child is old enough to make his own personal confession of Christ.

Premarital counseling help couples understand and plan for a marriage, NOT A WEDDING, which will glorify God. It also helps couples set reasonable expectations. It helps build a solid, biblical foundation for marriage. Much time will be devoted in Scripture to learn how biblical ideas apply to marriage.

 It prepares couples for the marriage, and not just the wedding day. Couples can have a tendency to focus on the wedding day and not on the marriage.
It helps the couple examine personal convictions, expectations for their future and responsibilities they will have. More than anything, premarital counseling aims to produce a marriage that is biblical and God-honoring.

 A funeral service, sometimes called a memorial service or a celebration of life, is a beautiful way to acknowledge, celebrate and honor the life of a loved one who has passed away. A funeral can bring comfort and peace to those who mourn and bring people together to share in the sorrow of loss and the joy of having known someone.
